Our orthopedic practices are hospital based. If our provider determines that the patient requires casting, determines the type of casting, etc. BUT it is applied by the cast tech employed by the hospital, can our provider bill for the CPT code? The hospital is telling us that there is nothing billable except an E&M for the physician since the cast was applied by a cast tech employed by them.

If doc is NOT applying the cast he cannot bill it as the facility will bill it on their end.
