Drug codes
I am a medical coding student, and don't have a definite answer, but here is my understanding:
In 2016 CPT Professional we have Definitive Drug Testing on page 494 with a note that says: "Definitive drug identification methods are able to identify individual drugs and distinguish between structural isomers but not necessarily stereoisomers. Definitive methods include, but are not limited to, gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (any type, single or tandem) and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (any type, single or tandem) and exclude immunoassays (eg. IA, EIA, ELISA, RIA, EMIT, FPIA) and enzymatic methods (eg. alcohol dehydrogenase)."
On page 495 in the CPT code book, we have:
80324 Amphetamines; 1 or 2
80325 3 or 4
80326 5 or more
Hope this helps!
