My docs want to use a diabetic insert A5512 for non diabetic patients because they and the patient like the insert.
I told them there is an extensive LCD on this insert.
They want to code it as a regular insert like L3040, since they are not using it on a diabetic patient.
Can we do this? Why not? Why cant a physician use something they like that treats the patient appropriately? Does every insert/orthotic have FDA approval for only certain uses/treatments?
Any help/documentation would really be appreciated!!
