Good Morning,
My neurosurgeon has been using the ROSA robot for placment and removal of depth electrodes for dx of epilepsy. I am being questioned about the coding and wanting to run this past anyone who has or uses this equiment/issue.
I was told by manufacturer to use CPT 61760 for placment of depth electrodes when using the robot and when removing to use 61880. The auditors are questioning the CPT 61880 due to the use of the wording neurostimulator electrodes. CPT 61880 is not an exact code f My neurosurgeon says these electrodes can be used for stimulation and/or recording. Auditor looking at CPT 64585 but this is for removal of an array of electrodes and the surgery we do with the robot is one electrode placement at specific sites.
I have attached an op report.
