Member CEUs
To maintain accreditation as a Certified Professional Coder® (CPC®), Certified Professional Coder-Hospital® (CPC-H®), or Certified Professional Coder-Payer® (CPC-P®) the AAPC requires completion of a minimum 36 continuing education units (CEU) every two years. If you have more than one core credential or specialty credential(s), you are required to maintain a maximum of 80 CEUs every two years. CEUs must be earned during the current two year renewal period. CEU sources must be current within the same two year renewal period.
Why earn CEUs?
Coding and reimbursement rules and regulations are constantly changing and challenging the coder. CEUs are required provide opportunities for coders to continue to grow in knowledge and expertise in your field. CEUs are not designed to be expensive, but rather expansive, in order to help coders expand their skills and broaden their horizons. The AAPC provides a full year’s worth of free CEU opportunities in the Coding Edge and Edge Blasts. Free CEUs are also routinely available through attending local chapter educational offerings.
