Default Coding Retinopathy of Prematurity Exams

Looking to talk to someone about coding ROP exams of patients in the NICU. My docs are trying to code an E/M code plus the 92225/6 for the retinal exam but finding it difficult to have their documentation support the E/M code. I am getting a bit of push back because they say they are basing the need and frequency of their exams on the AAP/AAO recommendation for ROP exams in premature infants. I agree that they are but in my opinion they are not meeting the coding/billing requirements. Anyone have experience with coding these exams appropriately? Or have an easy to use form they'd be willing to share?
I appreciate your time and feedback.
