Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.The Outpatient Coder I is responsible for: - Assigning ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes- Maintains at least a 95% accuracy rate- Maintains average productivity based on Ardent Shared Coding Productivity Standards- abstracting of facility required data in McKesson Star- Working applicable SMART and McKesson Pre-Bill Edits and Receivable Work Station (RWS) requests- Follow up on missing documentation as needed- Communication of issues to the APC Manager- Thorough understanding of ICD-9-CM Official Coding Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and Coding clinic for ICD-9-CM- Understanding of coding resources and tools, including 3M encoder/grouper and PwC OP SMART- Acknowledgement of receipt and review of updated coding policies- Maintains continuing education (CD) requirements per policy. requirements: Education: Minimum: Completion of a Medical Terminology course and/or ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding classKnowledge/Skills/Abilities: Advance computer and word processing skills; Ability to successfully operate encoding and abstract software; Ability to communicate effectivelyExperience: Minimum: One(1) year of related experienceDesired: Previous hospital experience APPLY FOR THIS JOB Contact Person: Melissa Valencia Phone: 505-727-5731 Email Address: melissa.valencia@lovelace.com Fax: 505-727-9623 |
