Reason for Study: PLEURAL EFFUSION

Placement of a Pleural Drainage Tube: The guidewire was used to
progressively dilate the subcutaneous tract. An 8 French drainage
tube was advanced over guidewire and under fluoroscopic guidance was
positioned with the catheter tip curled within the fluid collection.
Amber-colored fluid was aspirated and sent for culture and
sensitivity. The catheter was secured in place with 2.0 Prolene
sutures. Fluoro spot films of the chest were obtained to document
final position of the catheter. The patient tolerated the procedure
well without complications
