Default Nursing Home Discharge Criteria

Our physician has charged for nursing home discharge on the 26th with the patient not leaving the nursing home until the 29th. Our software will not allow this stating "discharge date must be 24 hours from service date". Before I contact our computer "people", I am wondering if anyone knows if this is a Medicare rule? I found on the website that the two dates do not need to agree but not a time limit.

Thanks.
