Need help with ortho surgery. Which modifier would be needed?
I work for orthopaedic surgeons. one hand surgeon did an ulnar nerve release. Patient still in global then another hand surgeon in our office took the patient back to the OR and did 2 seperate procedures not related to the ulnar nerve, What Modifier would be needed? One suggested 78.

The surgeons both being the same office the tax ID # would be the same, therefore acting as "one person". Modifier 79 reflects the fact that it is a return to the OR for unrelated procedure during the postop period. "If it was INDEED unrelated not more extensive".
