Default E/M Code Scenario

Dr did a History & Physical & based on lab results that showed his patient was anemic, he contacted the AMS unit to set up a blood transfusion and gave the order for the patient to be admitted into ambulatory surgery. What is the E/M code Dr will use.

Thanks!

Impossible to choose a code based upon the information you provided.

How detailed a history? How detailed an exam? What level of medical decision making?

I suggest you get a copy of the 1995 or 1997 E&M Documentation Guidelines, read through them, and see what you come up with.

I agree... Need more info in order to come up with a E/M code. Was this patient seen in the office, or was it an E/R visit?
