It's an ICD-9 procedure code. I bet you didn't know there was such a thing, did you? It's an old antiquated system. It's mainly used in facility billing nowadays. Here's a link to a searchable database..

Wow.. no i didn't know there was such a thing. I did a search on google and got ICD-9 Procedure as well , but thought it was incorrect information! I am coding for a surgeon and not a facility... this code was the best match for the procedure performed. Is there an equivilant CPT code for this procedure??

This is not my area of expertise, so I would hate to suggest an incorrect code, but you might try the CPT index under, "catheter, skull".

Try CPT codes 61210 or 62160. I just cross referenced with my encoder and these came up. They may be what you need, or they may not be.
Best,

To outpatient coders I'm sure the system does seem antiquated. It is, to some extent, hence our need for conversion to I-10.
Regardless, it is the bread and butter for IP, facility coding.
