Is anyone getting reimbursed for doing a PET/CT and an additional diagnostic CT on the same day with medical necessity? Apparently oncologists would like to order these tests.
Just to clarify... -The patient would have a PET/CT and then the patient would go for diagnostic CT's (e.g. neck, chest, etc.), same day. The PET/CT images were obtained and then additional diagnostic CT images are obtained. Thank you,

Hi Jessica,
Yes, our office is getting reimbursed for PET/CT and additional diagnostic CT on the same day. However, just recently I have encountered an issue with out of state blue plans. I am currently working on this issue to get resolved. All other insurances are reimbursing the PET/CT and additional diagnostic CTs with no problems. Hope this helps. |

Thank you both for your input. Now the Rad's want to know what the reimbursement is for these tests. Job never done! Again, I appreciate your feedback!

Anthem BC/BS usually likes to have the CT/MRI, etc done prior to the PET. Sometimes its hard to get authorization unless it is done first.
