Default pet ct & diagnostic ct

Is anyone getting reimbursed for doing a PET/CT and an additional diagnostic CT on the same day with medical necessity? Apparently oncologists would like to order these tests.

Just to clarify...
-The patient would have a PET/CT and then the patient would go for diagnostic CT's (e.g. neck, chest, etc.), same day. The PET/CT images were obtained and then additional diagnostic CT images are obtained.

Thank you,

Hi Jessica,

Yes, our office is getting reimbursed for PET/CT and additional diagnostic CT on the same day. However, just recently I have encountered an issue with out of state blue plans. I am currently working on this issue to get resolved.

All other insurances are reimbursing the PET/CT and additional diagnostic CTs with no problems.

Hope this helps.

Thank you both for your input. Now the Rad's want to know what the reimbursement is for these tests. Job never done! Again, I appreciate your feedback!

Anthem BC/BS usually likes to have the CT/MRI, etc done prior to the PET. Sometimes its hard to get authorization unless it is done first.
