Default Medicare pay for discharge after surgery?

OK. Patient comes in for surgery that has a 90 day global period. The surgeon discharges the patient a few days after surgery. Medicare denies the "Hospital Discharge" stating that this is nothing more than "Routine post-op care" which is included in the global surgical package. I cannot find anything that addresses this issue.

Does Medicare not cover the discharge after surgery?

Thanks.

Default Discharge after Surgery

The discharge service is not payable because it is in the 90 Day Global Period. All services rendered in the global period that are related to the surgery are not covered by Medicare.
