Coding Skin Procedures in the Office Setting

Overview:

We will review the proper way to code for minor skin procedures done in the office setting. This session will cover differences between shave excisions and biopsies, benign and malignant lesions and repairs. Photographs will be used, so be prepared to get a solid understanding.

You Will Learn:

• A solid understanding of the difference between a shave excision and biopsies
• A solid understanding of the proper diagnosis to use for submission of claims
• A solid understanding of when it is correct to apply a modifier to the office visit
• A solid understanding of what to look for in the procedure note to determine the type of closure

CEU approved for all CPCs and the following specialties: CPCD, CFPC, CGSC, CIMC

Susan has 20 years of coding and billing experience. She currently works for a reconstructive plastic surgeon in Phoenix. She is an approved PMCC instructor, AAPC workshop presenter, past president of her local AAPC chapter, and was a member of the 2007-2009 AAPC National Advisory Board.
