HIPAA Compliance

Overview:

This webinar will cover information coders need to be compliant with HIPAA as they perform their jobs. Although many parts of the HIPAA law do not pertain directly to coding, the more an individual understands, the better he or she performs. HIPAA and ARRA/HITECH do have direct bearings on coding operations.

You Will Learn:

• Purpose of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
• Background information necessary to understand how to comply with HIPAA.
• Impact of the HITECH part of the ARRA on coding processes.
• How to interact with payers and maintain HIPAA compliance.

About The Presenter

M. Ann Bachman has assisted healthcare providers with OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA compliance for 16 years. She has developed manuals, provided employee training, conducted mock audits, and published newsletters and articles on these issues. She has also participated as a presenter for numerous breakout sessions in conferences across the country. Prior to joining DoctorsManagement, Ann worked in the laboratory at East Tennessee Children's Hospital, Knoxville, TN.
