AAPC Adds Director of Publications to Editorial Team at Salt Lake National Office
SALT LAKE CITY – Nov. 5, 2007 – The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC, www.aapc.com), the nation’s largest education and credentialing association for medical coders, announces that it has named Brad Ericson, CPC, as the director of publications. The Salt Lake-based AAPC distributes its internal member magazine, CodingEdge, to more than 60,000 worldwide, in addition to biweekly newsletters and other publications. Ericson will oversee all aspects of the AAPC’s editorial department including editorial content, layout, printing and distribution.
“We are excited to have Brad join the AAPC team,” said Reed Pew, CEO and president of AAPC. “He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and years of experience that will benefit our members in many ways.”
Ericson joins AAPC after a 13-year career at Ingenix, a health care information and research company. Ericson served in many roles at Ingenix, including product manager for new products and CPT® and HCPCS Level II books, managing editor, and project editor.
Prior to that, Ericson was a writer and editor for Aetna Health Plans’ managed mental health subsidiary. Ericson has also served as associate director of admissions at Westminster College of Salt Lake City and as a public relations practitioner at several Intermountain area hospitals. He has been an adjunct instructor at local colleges.
Ericson earned a Master of Professional Communications from Westminster College of Salt Lake City and Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Idaho State University. He is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the AAPC.
