Clarion University – Venango Campus Division of Continuing Education Partners With the AAPC to Offer e-Learning Coding Curriculum
Oil City, PA - Clarion University–Venango Campus, Division of Continuing Education, has partnered with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC, www.aapc.com) to offer an online learning program for students to earn certified credentials to prepare them for employment as medical coders in physician offices, hospital outpatient facilities, ambulatory surgical centers and payer organizations. This online component complements the university’s on-campus coding education.
“We’re excited to be working with AAPC to offer this curriculum online,” said Hope Lineman, Coordinator of Continuing Education at Clarion University–Venango Campus. “We have offered classroom instruction in this area for over six years. This is a huge step in reaching those students who would like to enhance their current profession or to increase their job opportunities but are unable to schedule classes on campus for live classroom instruction. The online component will allow students to work on the curriculum at a time that is convenient for them each day, and to complete the courses required for national certification in medical billing and coding.”
Rhonda Buckholtz, CPC, who teaches the coding classes at the campus, will continue to teach in the classroom and will assume the additional responsibilities as the online coach.
“We are pleased to have been chosen by Clarion University to provide online coding curriculum,” said Barbara Cobuzzi, director of outreach programs at AAPC. “AAPC’s partnership with Clarion will open the doors to many potential coders to get the education and training they need to land jobs.”
