CPC-H® Preparation Course
This course teaches fundamental coding skills for an outpatient hospital/facility setting and prepares the student to take the AAPC CPC-H® exam for a career in medical coding. It is aimed at teaching the correct application of CPT®, HCPCS Level II procedure and supply codes and ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes used for coding and billing outpatient facility services to insurance companies. This course will not cover inpatient hospital coding or coding in the Freestanding Ambulatory Surgery Center.
- Prepares students to receive the AAPC’s CPC-H® credential and qualify for a career as a medical coder in an hospital outpatient setting
- Offers online reading materials and assignments as well as audio lectures to add to the student’s learning experience
- Assigns each student a CPC® or CPC-H® certified coach to assist the student as needed
- Provides the flexibility to complete coursework at home on your own schedule
- Is approved for 40 CEUs for certified AAPC members upon completion
- Is intended to be completed within a four(4)-month period or less
- Qualifies for college credit with the University of Phoenix

After reading through the course/system requirements, enroll in the currently available 2009 course (which includes the 2010 code updates for those taking the certification exam in 2010).

*Note: It is strongly recommended that 2009 coding books be used with this course as it will more closely match course content (although 2010 coding books may be used). AAPC recommends students update their code books to 2010 year if they plan to take the certification exam in the calendar year 2010.
