Project AAPC

AAPC Local Chapters Aiding the People of the World in Crisis

History: In 2010, the AAPC Chapter Association board (AAPCCA), created a charity to help victims of catastrophic disasters. Local chapters were challenged to collect monetary donations and bring them to the 2010 AAPC national conference in Jacksonville, Florida. Coincidentally, that year’s national conference had previously been scheduled for Nashville, Tennessee, but was relocated to Jacksonville due to extreme flooding from torrential rains in the area – the streets of Nashville were under several feet of water. With this in mind, the decision was made to focus Project AAPC on assisting our "own" community. Funds were donated to the American Red Cross for relief assistance in Nashville.

Today: Through the initial experience, we learned that AAPC members prefer to keep funds and assistance on the local level, so the AAPCCA decided to continue collecting monetary donations and giving them.

The AAPCCA is still challenging all local chapters to find new and creative ways to raise funds in an effort to benefit one of these worthy causes. No donation is too small, and 100% of the money collected is given to the designated organization. Chapter officers are also encouraged to share ways they have found to help those in need.

Representatives from chapters with donations are encouraged to bring them to AAPC's annual national conference, where each year ribbons are presented to recognize these charitable contributions. Donations can be made throughout the year by sending a check made payable to Project AAPC and indicating the recipient organization (either ARC or Feeding America):
