UHC Extends Premium Program Dates
In response to physician feedback received by UnitedHealthcare (UHC) after the January release of the UnitedHealth Premium Program, the insurer is allowing certain physicians more time to submit their requests for reconsideration prior to online designation display. The extension, the insurer says, will give those physicians with a current designation display date prior to March 30 the time they need to review their assessment report, seek clarification, and request reconsideration.
The UnitedHealth Premium Program evaluates quality and cost efficiency in physician practices across 21 specialties and displays the information online for consumers to see. If a physician does not want the designation result that is shown in his or her assessment letter to display on UHC’s websites until the outcome of the reconsideration is received, the physician has until the date given in the assessment letter to submit such a request via the Premium website.
Inclement weather or mailing issues, however, may have prevented some physicians from reading their assessment letters and submitting reconsideration by the deadline given in the assessment letters. Taking this into consideration, UHC announced Feb. 11 that physicians who were given a designation display date prior to March 30 now have until Feb. 26 to submit a reconsideration request online through the Premium section of the UnitedHealthcare website, and an online designation display date of March 30.
