ICD-10 Hub:General Equivalence Mappings (GEMs): Understanding Shortfalls

“In the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 there has been an out crying for a tool to crosswalk from the old and new code sets to assist the industry with the transition and the General Equivalence Mappings (GEMs) are an attempt to meet that challenge,” says Julie Croly, CPC, CPC-P, CPC-I in a recent ICD-10 Hub blog post.

She goes onto list a number of the GEMs shortcomings in the posting.
