Although many industry leaders have fought against the ICD-10 changeover, there is room to rejoice once October 2013 is upon us, according to a recent article for Health Data Management. AAPC’s director of ICD-10 development and training, Kim Reid, CPC, CPMA, CEMC, CPC-Iwas one of the experts quoted in the piece.
“We might need to use a few different ICD-9 codes to describe a disease state and all its symptoms, but with ICD-10 we can often do the same thing with just one code,” she says.”
