CMS Releases EHR Incentive Appeals Process Info
If you are an eligible hospital or provider that hasn’t received your payments through the government’s Medicare Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program, or if you want to challenge a payment amount you’ve received, you are in luck. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released guidance on the appeals process for this incentive program.
The guidance now being offered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Clinical Standards and Quality (OCSQ) provides a step-by-step explanation on how a provider can file an appeal in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program.
Hospitals and health care professionals that have been deemed ineligible to participate in the program or denied meaningful-user status can download administrative appeals information from the CMS website. There you can find information about payment calculation appeals, as well.
According to the CMS site, the appeals deadline for hospitals has been extended from Dec. 31, 2011 to Jan. 30, 2012, and appeals decisions will be posted on the Office of Clinical Standards and Quality (OCSQ) Appeals webite beginning in February.
