HCPro: Will Payers Be Ready For ICD-10 Come October 1, 2013?
ICD-10 is a major concern for a lot of health care professionals. Payers are one in that group. AAPC member Peggy Blue, CPC, MPH, CCS-P recently authored a piece for HC Pro on such a topic.
“Hopefully most payers will be on board, but the possibility remains that some payers may not implement ICD-10-CM/PCS until after October 1, 2013,” she wrote. “Some have suggested that payers may choose to delay implementation of ICD-10 as a strategy for saving reprogramming costs of their claims processing system. That seems shortsighted.”
