With so much change coming in the near future, all health care professionals need to be ready. AAPC ICD-10 trainer Marilyn Holley, CPC, CPC-I, RHIT recently contributed an article on this topic as related to the ICD-10 changeover for SurgiStrategies magazine.
“Envision yourself as a kind mentor and guide for your co-workers and providers even though, and especially when, you may not receive that same kindness in return. When changes occur within an organization, tensions often run high. Anticipating these types of reactions, and proactively addressing methods to diffuse such situations will allow for greater teamwork and a smoother transition during the ICD-10 implementation,” she stated.
