For the Record: Breaking the ASC Codes

Ambulatory surgery center (ASC) coders are often very niche in an already niche industry, according to a recent article in For the Record Magazine. AAPC member Stephanie Ellis, CPC, RN is one such rare coder who was able to shed some light on the world of ASC coding.
“You don’t have the opportunity like you do in a hospital to capture physicians and query them about [what] they did,” she says. “Physicians are in and out of an ASC quickly.”
