Effective May 14, TrailBlazer Health Enterprises has instituted an edit for the following laboratory CPT® codes:
- 80074 Acute hepatitis panel
- 80076 Hepatic function panel
These lab services have been identified by the Part A/B Medicare administrative contractor (MAC) as having a high error rate through Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT).
“These services are frequently denied due to lack of signed orders submitted as requested,” said the Jurisdiction 4 MAC.
Medical review will request orders for codes 80074 and 80076. An order must include the signature of the ordering physician for the lab service to be payable.
