If you’re a medical coder have you ever imagined what you could teach physicians about the coding side of health care? AAPC member Barbara Fontaine, CPC discussed this topic in the most recent addition to Advance for Health Information Professionals “Coding Corner” column.
“Leaving out just a one small fact or mistakenly reporting the location of a service often can change the level of a service drastically and alter the reimbursement of a code,” she wrote. “The effect of these errors can cost a practice proper reimbursement or overcharge the patient and their carrier.”
