Transitioning to ICD-10 will take strategic planning and will affect each area of your practice. AAPC ICD-10 Specialist Jackie Stack, BSHA, CPC, CPC-I, CEMC, CFPC, CIMC, CPEDC, CCP-P, recently published an article in the AAMA Executive, explaining the most important considerations practice administrators should have in preparing for ICD-10 implementation.
“As the administrator you need to think of all of the areas in your practice that will be affected in the transition,” she notes. “Some of the potential changes will be with superbills, advance beneficiary notices, policies, procedures, and contracts. When thinking of implementation you need to consider how it will affect your budget, information technology (IT), software, and staff.”
