Project AAPC Donations go to the Oklahoma Tornado Victims
Saturday Aug. 24th Linda Litster, Local Chapter Officer/Member Relations Liason and Brenda Edwards, AAPCCA Board of Directors Chair, traveled to Oklahoma City, OK to meet with three local chapters directly affected by the recent tornadoes. They were also joined by the American Red Cross, Feeding America and other representatives.
Brenda presented the American Red Cross and Feeding America each a check, and representatives from both said the funds would stay in that area to help the victims. Linda spoke to the group comprised of AAPC board members, representatives of the donation agencies, and the families directly affected by the tornadoes. She personally thanked the families for allowing AAPC to be a part of the recovery effort and for sharing their stories of heartache, loss and the many heroic efforts that saved precious lives and has forever changed hers. Linda also presented checks to Moore, Midtown and Oklahoma City chapters, whose members were affected by the tornadoes.
The presented donations came from a collective effort; many local chapters made donations, as well as AAPC employees.
It will take much longer to rebuild than it took the tornadoes to destroy and to some there may not be enough relief to ever fully heal. However, Oklahoma is “the Heartland,” and its inhabitants will most certainly find the strength to pull together and move forward. We greatly appreciate your donations and prayers for those who faced such adversity.
