CMS Issues Guidance to Help Meet Stage 2 Meaningful Use

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a four-page guidance to help practices meet Stage 2 meaningful use requirements for summary of care, clinical summary, and patient electronic access to their medical record.

The guidance walks through the specific information required for each measure. There are 20 for the clinical summary, 12 for patient electronic access, and 16 for the summary of care. The guideline includes timelines for items such as the deadline to provide online access to patients’ information. The graphically-oriented guidance includes flows and decision trees and provides links to FAQ answers.
