ICD-10 Monitor: Talk Ten Tuesday

This week’s Talk Ten Tuesday podcast featured a previous AAPC National Advisory Board member, Stephen Spain, MD, CPC, who spoke about common physician misconceptions surrounding ICD-10. He also addressed how to deal with those misconceptions to ensure adequate preparation for the October 1, 2014 implementation deadline.

“My biggest concern is that so many physicians out there think that this transition is not going to happen—that somehow this transition is going to get canceled or maybe postponed one more time,” he said. “I’m also pretty concerned, from talking to physicians, that a lot of them have the feeling that this is a billing or a coding issue that’s not going to affect them very much… That couldn’t be further from the truth.”
