ICD-10 Monitor: Talk Ten Tuesday

This week’s Talk Ten Tuesday podcast featured one of AAPC’s current local chapter officers, Evan Gwilliam, DC, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, CCPC, who spoke about the impact ICD-10 will have on the primary industry beneficiaries: patients. He also described how crosswalks may be helpful but will be insufficient if relied on alone. Dr. Gwilliam explained that physicians need to do their homework, dig into the ICD-10 book, and understand the new possibilities this code set offers.

“I’m not a salesperson for ICD-10, but I’ve done enough digging and research to know that it really is going to make our healthcare system better,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the next time someone throws a question at me… then I can… dig and find these other options, these other opportunities, that we have to report things even more accurately than we ever were before.”
