ICD-10 Monitor: Talk Ten Tuesday – War Room Strategy

Laurie Johnson, Peak Health Consultant and Educator for ICD10, was invited to speak on the “War Room” strategy, a method she recommends for coordinating actions during the ICD-9 to ICD-10 transition period. Laurie cited an article by Steven Brill that appeared in the most recent issue Time magazine. In the article, the author describes the “control center” model being utilized by those responsible for resolving the issues plaguing the healthcare.gov website. By employing this method they were able to fix the site quickly.

Comparing this situation to the upcoming ICD-10 mandate, Laurie said, “There will be things that will not be addressed or thought of during the last four years and we need a mechanism in which to resolve those.”

You can listen to the full podcast here. On March 26, Laurie will be hosting a webinar outlining how to build an effective command center.
