ICD-10 Monitor: Talk Ten Tuesday

Today, Rhonda Buckholtz, Vice President of ICD training and education at AAPC, was asked to share AAPC’s reaction to Thursday’s ICD-10 announcement.

“AAPC is happy the date was finalized but there are still many areas of concern.” said Rhonda. “The industry needs to move forward; learn from the successes of those who that have done testing and were ready prior to the delay.”

Advocating a sooner-than-later approach to ICD-10 testing, Rhonda presented the following findings:

“ICD-10 education has made stronger ICD-9 coders, which is a great current benefit to training” she said. “Improving clinical documentation is a way to strengthen our participation in compliance…”

According to the Ten Ready Poll conducted on the broadcast, the majority of listeners (47%) indicated they believed the implementation date will occur on October 1, 2015, according to the announcement.
