ICD-10 Monitor: Talk Ten Tuesday
Reporting on the recent AHIMA national convention, AAPC member Maria Bounos, RN, MPM, CPC-H discussed her two major takeaways from the conference: big data and ICD-10.
Speaking of the former, she talked about the importance of not only capturing data, but having the ability to silo the information. Maria shared a statistic that although the data is out there, only 5% of the industry can analyze it at the point of care.
“As we think about ICD-10, we know we’ll have better data, quality data, and improve overall patient outcomes and overall healthcare.” said Maria. “The buzz out there, and even on the convention floor has been very positive”.
