ICD-10 Implementation Strategies
We will be sharing a number of strategies to help your practice successfully implement ICD-10-CM. Please remember to track your progress in your ICD-10 Implementation Tracker on AAPC’s website.
As we are now less than one year away from ICD-10 implementation, now is the time to assess if you are on track with your education. For larger facilities, dual coding may have already begun and should be QA’d along with ICD-9-CM. Concentration on providers should be a focus, at this point. All providers should have had ICD-10 documentation assessments, or have them scheduled, shortly. Training specific to provider specialty should be scheduled to delve into what is important to their patient base. Payers should be contacted for testing opportunities. CMS has two more testing weeks next year that will be open for registration. The more that your office tests, the more information you will have on what to expect on Oct. 1, 2015.
