We will be sharing a number of strategies to help your practice successfully implement ICD-10-CM. Please remember to track your progress in your ICD-10 Implementation Tracker on AAPC’s website.
Physician Readiness
Now that we are so close to implementation, it is time to spend some quality time with your physicians on ICD-10. If there were any changes made to EMR templates to capture the specificity of ICD-10, make sure your providers are aware of why they are popping up now. Continue to discuss their documentation. Show them where they have made improvement and where attention still needs to be directed. Make sure they are comfortable with any new tools you may be using for ICD-10, and continue with documentation assessments. The physicians and other providers will be on the front lines of implementation, so you need to make sure that they are comfortable with, and ready for, the exciting changes ahead.
