Docs, Others Beg Reprieve from EHR Meaningful Use Stage 3

The American Medical Association (AMA) and 111 other medical societies have begged Congress to offer a reprieve or refocus of Stage 3.  Their sentiment was included in a  letter to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Leader Harry Reid.

As reported in Healthcare IT News, the letter implores Congress and Health and Human Services (HHS) to focus on interoperability. “We believe that the success of the program hinges on a laser-like focus on promoting interoperability and allowing innovation to flourish as vendors respond to the demands of physicians and hospitals rather than the current system where vendors must meet the ill-informed check-the-box requirements of the current program,” leaders of the medical organizations write.
