Jerry Okabe: A Good Man and a Good Life
We at AAPC are saddened to lose one of our favorite coworkers, Jerry Okabe, who passed away this weekend. Always cheery, easy to work with, and expert in his role, Jerry brightened every room he was in. He is survived by his wife, Shizuka, and children: Michelle, Matthew, and Maryann.
Before joining Healthicity and AAPC, the Utah native led the healthcare reimbursement publishing industry during his tenure at Contexo Media. Prior to that, he was in the magazine industry for 25 years where, as an expert in publishing and circulation, Okabe served as VP of circulation for Miller Freeman and other companies.
A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, he was proud to have been a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for five years. He was featured in the church’s I Am a Mormon ad campaign. He also contributed to the communities in which he lived, through volunteering.
A funeral for Jerry will be held at noon, December 10, at the Granite LDS Stake Tabernacle, 2005 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT.
Jerry’s family asks that donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research at PanCan.org.
