An interventional radiologist may place, replace or maintain any of several types of gastrointestinal (GI) tubes, including gastrostomy tubes, duodenostomy or jejunostomy tubes, cecostomy or other colonic tubes, and gastro-jejunostomy tubes. This article discusses proper coding for GI tube placement related to initial tube placement, tube replacement and tube maintenance.
