Region 3 – Richmond Chapter Spotlight
Hello Region 3:
This month’s article is spotlighting one of our Region’s chapters.While Region 3 has many awesome chapters, some of the best in the Nation- this month we are giving a shout out to the Richmond, VA Local AAPC Chapter. The Richmond, Virginia AAPC Local Chapter prides itself on supporting and encouraging the advancement of healthcare professionals in the Richmond Virginia community. It efforts to do this for its members, by way of providing network opportunities and educational resources in accordance with the AAPC’s mission and goals. Their monthly meeting, not only include topic specific coding guidance, but 50/50 raffles; season drives to support the community and various donations raised to supports local causes including the AAPC Hardship Fund.
The Richmond chapter started in 1997 with Mary Hansen serving as the president. Currently, Aisha Hollingsworth-Thomas (President) and her officers: Colleen Mescall (Vice-President); Laura Robinson (Secretary); Cindy Lawhorne (Treasurer); Liz McCormick (Education Officer); and Anissa B. Miller (Membership Development Officer) are coordinating this year’s events and meetings.
This upcoming October, the Richmond Chapter will be hosting their Annual Fall Event, offering up to seven (7) continuing education credits (CEUs) on Friday, October 12th from 8am to 4:30pm, there will be topics presented on various coding subjects. The cost of $135 includes breakfast and lunch that will be provided.
