CEUs for a Variety of Information

Educational information is always available through chapter meetings but not all education focuses on the technical side of professional medical coding. As a change of pace, officers often arrange for presentations such as stress management, communication skills, or organization of time. These topics are considered general business skills, or Curriculum B. When CEUs are awarded, they are approved for Curriculum B CEUs. Certified members can have 1/3 of their required CEUs earned from Curriculum B education. Members enjoy and benefit from the variety of education delivered through the local chapters.

As a chapter officer you can better serve your members if you understand the CEU process. You can balance out the curriculum as well as be a resource for member questions. We have outlined the differences of Curriculum A and B CEUs in this month’s Hot Sheet and encourage you to share those details with your chapter members. If you have questions about this, you are welcome to call AAPC at 800-626-2633 or refer to the CEU Information-Members page for details.
