Message From Your Region 5 Representatives | Vanessa Moldovan and Sherrie Anderson

Spring Has Sprung at AAPC!

Vanessa Moldovan and Sherrie Anderson | Region 5 – Southwest

From Kansas to Mississippi, we are feeling the warmer weather, watching the flowers bloom, and HEALTHCON 2019 has wrapped up. If you were able to attend, I hope that you took a moment to say hi to a member of AAPC’s National Advisory Board (NAB).
If you were at HEALTHCON, you heard NAB President Michael Miscoe, JD, CPC, CASCC, CUC, CCPC, CPCO, CPMA, CEMA, AAPC Fellow, talk about the committees that each NAB member is a part of. You are at the center of every project. This term, we are focusing our efforts on career development, exam/educational content, NAB awareness, membership development, and products/services.
Define “Member”
You will find many definitions for “member” in the dictionary. I think the most applicable definition for an AAPC member is “a body part or organ” (Merriam-Webster). We all know that if a part of our body is not functioning properly, it affects our entire body. This concept applies to AAPC and our members, as well. All of the opportunities, resources, education, etc., that AAPC offers is of no use if our members are not able to understand or utilize them effectively.
What Does It Mean to Be an AAPC Member?
I encourage you to check out AAPC’s Member Bill of Rights. Each time I read it, I am moved by the vision and beliefs of AAPC and I am proud to be a member. The Member Bill of Rights also talks extensively about how NAB members are ambassadors for AAPC and liaisons for members. That means our purpose is to carry your messages directly to the decision-makers at AAPC.
As your NAB representatives, Sherrie Remphry-Anderson MS, CPC, CPC-I, CPPM, Fellow, and I can’t wait to be ambassadors and we hope that you will give us the opportunity to do so. Over this past year, we’ve had the opportunity to visit a few chapters. The ideas, questions, and concerns we received from members were added to our annual NAB retreat agenda. We are here to serve you, so please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Vanessa Moldovan, CPC, CPPM, CPMA
