A growing number of insurers are paying for online communication between physicians and patients. And when insurers don’t cover it, many patients are willing to pay out of pocket for the convenience. Rhonda Buckholtz, vice president of business and member development for the AAPC, discusses the need to be educated on health plans and what they cover. In addition, she shares the need to have a clear plan and set of procedures to help ensure that physicians get paid for their online consultations.
