AAPC announces May MAYnia 2010 Annual Member Contest
The contest theme for 2010 is “Growing Together with Local Chapters”

SALT LAKE CITY—May 6, 2010—The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC, announces May MAYnia 2010 to provide non-AAPC-members an opportunity to discover what its more than 450 local chapters offer, including valuable education and networking benefits. This year’s event will include more than $10,000 in gifts and prizes sponsored by the AMA, Contexo Media, Ingenix and MAG Mutual.

“May MAYnia is more than a contest—it provides an excellent opportunity for medical coders to get educated on current trends affecting health care and medical coding,” Said Marti Johnson, director of local chapter support for the AAPC. “Local chapter meetings also provide excellent networking opportunities to build strong relationships with other coders.”

This year’s contest theme “Growing Together with Local Chapters” spotlights the key to successful membership growth at the AAPC. Local chapter meetings provide new medical coders and members an opportunity to be mentored by seasoned professionals in the coding field, and they also make coders aware of job openings in the area.

All AAPC chapters are eligible to participate in the membership drive contest. The 10 chapters with the highest average member attendance in May will be winners! The grand prize will be awarded to the chapter with the most guests (non-AAPC members)! To learn more about the AAPC and its May MAYnia event, go to
