New Category I CPT® influenza vaccine codes announced in 2009 and slated for publishing in the 2011 CPT® manual are effective July 1. All four codes have the pending approval icon as the vaccines are not yet approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
90664 Influenza virus vaccine, pandemic formulation, live, for intranasal use
90666 Influenza virus vaccine, pandemic formulation, split virus, preservative free, for intramuscular use
90667 Influenza virus vaccine, pandemic formulation, split virus, adjuvanted, for intramuscular use
90668 Influenza virus vaccine, pandemic formulation, split virus, for intramuscular use

    will 90663 be invalid? Also do we know if the government will supply these flu vaccines?

    I am not sure if the 90663 will be invalid. I think we will need to research the deleted codes, or wait for additonal information.
    Some states have the EPSDT program for certain age groups, and this is provided from the state. This information is only availble, I am thinking by the individual state guidelines, and specific programs. I have seen state funded vaccines, through programs under Medicaid. This is important information as it is a crucial part to billing for services, and how to bill them if the vaccines are government funded.

    We have already recieved a partial shipment of flu vaccine, how much longer before we get an update on the codes??

    I am also questioning code 90670 keeps getting rejected as per the doctors office this is valid and more expensive then code 90669?
    Please help..

    what is the correct flu shot for this year. Because whether is medicare or commercial payers, they are rejecting flu shot 90663 for payment. Please help us to get clarification as well as for administration code.
