The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the annual update to the clotting factor furnishing fee for 2011. As is standard, the fee is increased by 0.06 cents from this year.
The clotting factor furnishing fee of $0.176 per unit will be included in the published payment limit for clotting factor billing codes, effective Jan. 1, 2011.
Contractors will make separate payment for the clotting factor furnishing fee when separate payment is allowed and the payment limit is not included on the Average Sales Price (ASP) Medicare Part B or Not Otherwise Classified (NOC) Pricing Files.
