Certified EHR Product List Grows
Eligible professionals (EPs) and hospitals should not have any trouble finding a certified electronic health record (EHR) product to help them meet “meaningful use” standards under the federally run EHR incentive programs. This list of certified EHRs is growing rapidly.
The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act) established programs under Medicare and Medicaid to provide incentive payments for the meaningful use of certified EHR technology. The Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs will provide incentive payments to EPs and eligible hospitals as they adopt, implement, upgrade, or demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR technology. The programs begin in 2011.
The Drummond Group and the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) now have 46 certified EHR products between them posted on the Certified HIT Product List (CHPL).
The CHPL provides a comprehensive listing of complete EHRs and EHR modules that have been tested and certified under the Temporary Certification Program maintained by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC).
